Outlook Export Help

This software allows you to export your mails from Microsoft Outlook to any mail client you can find. Please note that Microsoft Outlook is a completely different program from Microsoft Outlook Express

How to use the program

The program doesn't need to be installed, just double click it's outlookexport.exe file

You export each mail folder one by one. Select the first folder you wish to export. For example, the "Inbox" folder. The program has only two options "Convert to Outlook Express" and "Universal Export". The second option covers all mail clients but the first one is more convinient if you wish to export to Outlook Express.

"Convert to Outlook Express" Option

Before you click this button, please make a empty directory for some temporary files. For example, it might be C:\temp. Now click the option and select the directory where the program should hold the temporary files (C:\temp) and click OK. Now wait until the program converts mails. After it finishes you can close the application and start Outlook Express. Now open the directory with your mails (mine was C:\temp isn't it) in Windows Explorer and select all the files. Now, click on file and drag it Outlook Express window, to the directory of your choise (Inbox in my example). That's it.

Universal Export

This option really allows you to export mails to any mail client on any operating system. The trick is to make this utility act as a mail server and set up your mail client to get mail from it just as it would get mail from your real mail server.

First, set up your mail client's POP3 server as localhost. Before you change the setting write it down somewhere so that you can change it back after you finish the mail migration.

Now, it would be good if you would make a temporary directory in your mail client and move all the mails from Inbox to that directory. Having a clean Inbox makes it easier to distinguiss the new imported mails from the old ones.

Now, select one directory and click the "Universal Export" button. Now check email in your mail client. After you check your mail it's possible that you see the Outlook's security dialog box which asks you if you wish to allow the utility to access your mails. You should pick the option to allow access for the next 10 minutes (or more isn't it, but 10 minutes should be enough for exporting). Voila! You got your mails in your clients Inbox. Now select all of them and move them to the directory of yrou choise. Now you're ready to move some other directory. Don't forget to set up your mail client's POP3 server setting (localhost will not make sense after you export the mails)

If you wish to move the emails to some other operating system (Linux, MacOS whatever) start the program on your Windows computer and check the email over the network (instead of entering 'localhost' enter your computers name or IP address). Contact us if you need some help.
